Two Men Arrested for Shooting, Skinning Calf

Hawaii County police arrested two men in connection with a calf found shot and skinned on a Big Island organic farm.  Zack Gibson, the manager of the Puuala Farm & Ranch, said the two men are volunteers learning about organic farming.  Gilbson says they should have contacted the calf's owner, but they didn't mean to commit a crime. He said they came upon the injured calf in a gulch and shot it.  They were trying to not be wasteful by skinning it for meat. The two were arrested on suspicion of livestock theft and carrying an unloaded firearm.  If the men aren't charged by this afternoon, they have to be released.
