Modest Rise in August Visitor Arrivals, Spending Flat

Visitor arrivals for August were up modestly, and spending was flat, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority.  Visitor arrivals only rose 2.5 percent to 748,775 visitors in August and total spending was the same at $1.2 billion.  Mike McCartney, HTA president and CEO, said that continued efforts to increase distribution statewide, we have been successful in increasing total expenditures on the neighbor islands.
